Two suspects, Okpoti Philip, 37, a mason, and Jerry Tetteh, 29, a taxi driver, were arrested on the Somanya-Dodowa road by the Dodowa District Police for allegedly
possessing 256 parcels of compressed dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp.
Police authority have also impounded the taxi, with registration number GT 443742, which had been stuffed with the slabs.
The suspects were arrested about 6 a.m. on Tuesday, April 7, 2015 by Lance Corporal Boateng.
taxi driver, on seeing the policeman, sped off but he was arrested after a pursuit by the policeman who was driving a police vehicle.
A search on the taxi revealed the 256 slabs of the compressed dried leaves which had been covered with some brown plastics and concealed in travelling bags, while some of the slabs were hidden in the boot of the
car, others were on the passenger seat.
the suspects were being processed for court, while the compressed dried leaves had since been taken to the forensic laboratory of the Ghana Police Service for examination.
