A 26-year-old man has been arrested in Accra with 100 slabs of compressed dried leaves and seeds suspected to be Indian hemp concealed in pillows.
The Accra Regional Police Commander, DCOP Tetteh Yohuno narrates, “on 27 th April, 2015 at about 8am, the Police had a tip off that, somebody was transporting compressed parcels of dry leaves and seeds suspected to be Indian Hemp concealed in
pillows.
When the vehicle was searched, he said, about 20 pillows were retrieved, with each pillow having two or three slabs concealed
in it.
The compressed slabs, he said, had been wrapped with paper and black polythene and fastened with celotapes.
My Yohuno said investigations to ascertain the source of the drugs were still ongoing, noting: “But we will, in the meantime,
put the suspect before court.”
He said the police would take the dried leaves and seeds to the forensic laboratory to get them tested to establish whether they are narcotics.
