Two suspected criminals at a cell in
Tepa in the Ahafo Ano North District of the Ashanti Region, has escape and still at large.
The escapees are 26 year old nurse Ernest Owusu Afram , who allegedly defrauded 19 people with the pretext of getting them
admission at the Tepa Nursing School, and Shadrack Nyame who has been involved in several theft cases at Tepa and its environs.
Ernest Owusu Afram, who is accused of defrauding his clients to the tune of 20,000 cedis was on remand.
The Divisional Police Commander, ACP Dwomfour Berchie who confirmed the incident stated the escapees cut through the air outlet of the burglarproof cell gate and managed to escape.
“So far, what we have gathered is, they cut all the iron bars placed across the air outlet of the cell gate and managed to escape. We are yet to ascertain how they managed to get into the cells the tool which aided them in their escape” he said.
He also added.....
“We have therefore given a 10 day ultimatum to two of our officers who were on duty at the time the operation was undertaken to bring back the escapees
or face the full wrath of the law”
Just few weeks back a similar one occurred at Denu in the Volta Region where seven suspects escaped, with AK 47 and only three
Has been recaptured.
