SIRENOMELIA: baby with mermaid syndrome delivered at Suntreso Government Hospital. (photo)

A  baby  with sirenomelia, or mermaid syndrome   was delivered at the Suntreso Government Hospital in the Ashanti region , Ghana.

The baby with a rare defect has no genitals and it two legs are  fused together and  also conjoined at the heels to look like a caudal fin.


Meanwhile, reports indicate he seems healthy at birth.

Officials at the hospital have refused to comment officially on the issue.
