Ejisu Strongman shed tears in courth followed by Police commander pleads.

There was drama at the Ejisu District Magistrate’s Court Wednesday, when the district police commander, who was
allegedly assaulted last Sunday by a driver, stormed the courtroom to plead with the presiding magistrate to free the accused person because he had expressed remorse.



The commander’s plea followed intermittent shedding of tears by the accused, Kwasi Poku, who knelt down to change his initial plea of not guilty to that of guilty.

According to the prosecution, led by Chief Inspector Alex Odame, around 8:30 a.m. last Sunday, Opoku, a fomesua- based mini urvan bus driver, parked his bus at an unlawful parking place at Ejisu.

He was approached by two officers of the Ejisu MTTU to move the bus to allow for the free flow of traffic, but he would not
heed to the instruction.

The prosecutor said after pleas from the officers, including the District Police Commander, Chief Superintendent of Police La Baman, for Poku to move the bus or allow for it to be towed to the station, he finally drove to the station himself.

He said drama unfolded minutes later when Poku was asked to go behind the counter to allow for investigations to begin.
According to Chief Inspector Odame, the convict insulted the officers, invoked a curse from the powerful ‘Antoa’ deity,
damaged the four-edge metal cell gate and physically assaulted the commander.

 According to the commander, Assistant Superintendent of Police, La Baman, the accused, also known as Ejisu Strongman, had learnt his lessons after spending three days in police cells.

He said the accused was economically challenged and if imprisoned, it would put enormous burden on his wife to cater
for his three children, including a two-month old who was brought to court by her mother.

Subsequently, the court convicted Poku for offensive conduct to breach the peace and fined GH¢240 or in default serve four
months in jail.

He had earlier on Tuesday pleaded guilty to causing unlawful damage and was slapped with a GH¢3,600 or serve 18 months
imprisonment in default.
