Richard Agordo, 38, native and resident of Hohoe in the Volta Region and also member of a gang which allegedly terrorised students of the University of Ghana, Legon, in Accra has been arrested, after attacking two Law Faculty students the Mountcrest
University College, at Kanda, Accra, who were returning home after a group discussion.
unemployed and an ex-convict,is said to have emerged from the bush with an
accomplice and ordered the two students, a male and a female, to surrender their valuables at gunpoint, after he had snatched the lady’s handbag.
In the course of the struggle, Agordo shot the male student in the thigh. The 25 year victim was rushed to the Legon Hospital where was admitted for three days.
Agordo’s accomplice, who is yet to be identified, is on the run. Gang leader imprisoned The leader of the gang, Atta Kofi Kyei, alias Freshboy, 18, is said to have instigated the new attack after he had been incarcerated to serve a 20-year jail term with hard labour.
Kyei was arrested on January 10, 2015.
Agordo is said to have told the police that he had launched that attack to raise money for an appeal the judgement against his
friend.
The 25 year old victim was rushed to the Legon Hospital where was admitted for three days.
Police intelligence led to the arrest of Richard Agbodo at the hotel. A search on him revealed a locally made pistol and some of the items he robbed from the victims.
Richard admitted the offence and led the police to retrieve theremaining items from the bush where the robbery occurred.
