There have been violent clashes in the South African city of Durban, after a crowd of hundreds of locals tried to attack shops and businesses owned by immigrants on 14 April 2015.

According to reports, the South Africans say their anger is that black migrants from other African countries are taking all the jobs available to young men in their country, leaving them, the citizens
jobless, and slowly taking over their economy.
The latest violence followed reported comments by Zulu King Goodwill Zwelithini, an influential figure among the
Zulu ethnic group, that foreigners should “pack their bags” and leave. The king has since appealed for an end to the unrest.
Most of the recent unrest occurred in and around the coastal city of Durban, where police said two foreigners and three South Africans were killed. The dead included a 14-year-old boy who was allegedly shot
during looting on Monday night and died at a hospital, police colonel Jay Naicker said. Some 34 people have been arrested for possession of unlicensed firearms and
other crimes in the last two days,.
President Jacob Zuma on Sunday called for an end to the violence and directed the police and the home affairs ministers to work with local officials to stop the violence and enforce laws to curb the growth of
illegal trading and unlicensed shops.
"We reiterate that there can be no justification for attacking foreign nationals," Zuma said in a statement.
"Those who are in the country illegally should be reported to the police and they will be returned to their countries of origin in a lawful manner."
