Following ghe FDA directive on banning celebrities from advertising for any alcoholic beverage in Ghana, the popular Kumawood star , Kwadwo Nkansah known on screen as Lil Win says he will lay curses on the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA ) if it
decides to ban celebrities from featuring in any commercial advertisements promoting alcoholic beverages in the country.
According to lil win:
“We entertain people to make them happy , but ironically we weep when we get home because the pay is too small . So we will be left with no other option than to lay curses on Food and Drugs Authority if they dare try to prevent us from advertising alcoholic companies which has been our source of additional income , ”
According to FDA:
The banning of celebrities from running an advert for alcoholic company is to protect the interests of underage fans of popular personalities because advertising for alcoholic beverages have the tendency of luring the personalities ' underage
fans into engaging in alcoholism which is against the law .
Lil win spoke further ... that they will accept the ban only if Government decides to invest in the entertainment industry to
cater the industry players financially .
FDA want to bring sharia law into Ghana, the lame excuses of children will turn drunkards is not an option. Children receive both formal and informal education from home and schools. I strongly believe that every Academic institutions has taught thier pupil and student the effect of alcohol. Beside, each advert ends with (18+) symbol indicating it is not suitable for the person below 18 years.
